In My Own Words
If there’s one word to size up my journey thus far, it would have to be ADVENTURE. My mother died when I was 16 and I vowed not to ever utter the words, “I wish I had…”. She died young and I never wanted my life to simply pass me by. I wanted to be the star of my life story, not an extra. So, I’ve done a lot. Along the way at least a dozen people have say, “You’re doing too much.” And I’d say, “For whom?”
You see, just because you can’t keep up with me, doesn’t mean I’m moving too fast. I have no regrets. Do I wish I’d done some things differently? Absolutely. But I can’t think of many things I’ve wanted to do that I haven’t actually done. I can’t count too many places I’ve wanted to visit that I haven’t gone.
Professionally, I’ve rumbled in three very tough industries: sports, sales and television. Succeeding at high levels in all three. Personally, I’ve seen the world, lived in two countries — Italy & Switzerland — and been to places most people will never go. I’m proud of the person I’ve become through every good and awful thing that’s ever happened to me. I’m blessed.
When I lay my head down at night I rest easy knowing that I’ve been a kind, caring person to everyone I’ve encountered and if I haven’t, you better believe I’ve held myself accountable for my misbehaviors. I’m not perfect. Perfection’s dreadfully boring. But I am proud of the woman I’ve become, thankful for the mentors who’ve taught me, grateful for the opponents that have attempted to defeat me, but most importantly, appreciative of the gifts God’s given me.
I’m excited about the next chapter…er, adventure!
